People Like Dogs

Just took puppy on a long walk around the local park. Made the discovery that while people would balk to talk to me if I’m walking alone, they swarm when I’m walking with a dog. It’s somewhat nice because I always think it’s cool to meet new people (if they can act intelligently). Yet those people seem to be few. I don’t mean to be super negative, but I know a lot of people who just pop words out of their mouths without really using their brains.

Such as when I was walking across a busy street and carrying puppy—he gets too distracted to safely walk across a street like that—someone stopped me and asked if he was my dog. My inside response was, ‘No, I’m just carrying some random dog across the street and walking him on a leash.’ But I just smiled and nodded. I guess a lot of people talk before they cann fully process what they’re saying?

People also stopped me just to tell me how cute my dog was. Puppy, who is usually the sweetest little dog in the world and never barks, started yapping at them. And when this one lady tried to pet him he shrunk back and growled. It was very odd behavior for him. I guess he’s just super protective when he’s not inside his home?
